Weight Loss Science
It is proven that we cannot lose weight without detoxing.
Detoxing is a process wherein you take measures to rid the body of impurities. Detox is beneficial for nearly everything in our bodies including joint pain. But as far as weight loss, the necessity to detox is easily understood. Our bodies produce fat to protect us from toxins or impurities. If we diet and lose weight without detoxing, the toxins in our body become more concentrated.
As soon as we quit our fast or diet, our bodies swing rapidly into fat production to protect us from the concentrated toxins. This explains why so many people lose weight but just can’t keep it off. I love the illustration (right) taken from Dr. Bradley’s work “The Body Code”.
Essential Oils for Weight Loss
A diet high in carbohydrates and sugar coupled with the intake of omega-6 vegetable oils (the Standard American Diet) leads to insulin resistance. This is one of the main reasons people are not able to manage their weight. Grapefruit has been shown to reduce cravings but even more importantly, lower insulin. Insulin regulates blood sugar, metabolism and fat storage. Grapefruit tastes delicious added to water or fruit smoothies.
Have you heard of drinking lemon water in the morning? Lemon oil is a great way to detoxify the body. This is because it stimulates the liver which is the body’s filtration system. In addition to weight loss that follows detoxification, the polyphenols found in lemon have also shown to aid in weight loss. Lemon tastes delicious added to water or fruit smoothies.
Cinnamon moderates blood glucose levels, or the amount of sugar in the blood. High glucose levels not only lead to obesity, but can also cause diabetes, Alzheimer’s, acne, depression and several other problems.. Add cinnamon to oatmeal, apple sauce or tea.
Did your grandmother ever give you ginger ale for an upset stomach? While a soda isn’t going to help digestion, therapeutic grade ginger oil will. Ginger is highly anti-inflammatory in addition to being great for digestion. This is helpful to weight loss because it speeds waste elimination. That alone helps weight loss but also consider that with more efficient elimination, one is less toxic which has a huge baring on weightloss (see above). Ginger is good in salad dressings, soup and fruit smoothies.
Peppermint is great for digestion. It’s even recommended for those who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. When digestion is improved, weight management is easier (see ginger above). Peppermint alleviates nausea, constipation, bloating and diarrhea. It tastes great added to water and some fruit smoothies.
